Why can’t I access a shared drive?

Accessing Shared Drives

If you can’t access a shared drive:

  1. Verify you’re connected to the company network (VPN if remote).
  2. Check if you have permission to access the drive—contact your manager to confirm.
  3. Ensure the drive path is correct (e.g., \\server\shared_folder).
  4. Restart your computer to refresh network connections.

If the issue persists, note any error messages and contact the IT helpdesk.
